Open the sign-in window
In "Accounts" click "Add via QR / phone". Pick a "Proxy": only suitable ones are listed (SOCKS5 / HTTP, no dead ones), and the account will always work through this proxy. "Group (optional)" is up to you.

Sign in by QR code
The "QR code" tab → "Show QR code". On the phone: Telegram → Settings → Devices → Link Desktop Device → point the camera at the code. The code refreshes itself about every 30 seconds, so keep the window open.

Sign in by phone
The "Phone" tab → the number in international format (+1…, +44…) → "Get code". The window tells you where the code went (Telegram on another device, SMS, a call). Enter it and click "Sign in". If it does not arrive, click "Resend code".

2FA password
If the account has a cloud password, a "2FA password" field appears with your hint and the number of attempts left. The password is saved for future re-logins and is never shown anywhere.

Done
You see "Account added", and the account appears in the list with the "Active" status and the TDLib badge. If you close the window before the end, the sign-in is cancelled and the unfinished record deletes itself.

Sign in again
If an account dropped out (its device was revoked, or it asks to be signed in again by QR), click the sign-in icon in its "Actions": "Sign in again (QR / phone)". The proxy and phone are filled in from the account, and the new session replaces the old one. The icon is shown only for accounts without the TDLib badge: a signed-in account does not need it.
Why signing in by phone may not work
When you sign in by phone number, Telegram may require a reCAPTCHA. Only the official Telegram mobile app can pass it, while TGBLAST signs in from a server. In that case the window says "For sign-in by phone number Telegram requires a check that can't be passed from a server. Sign in with a QR code instead" and shows a "Sign in with QR" button. QR sign-in does not need this check: scan the code with the phone where the account is already open.
Other answers that mean this method will not work, or will only work later:
- Telegram requires Premium to sign in
- Such an account cannot be added this way.
- This number is banned in Telegram
- The number is banned, so you cannot sign in to it.
- Telegram temporarily limited sign-ins for this number
- Try again later. If Telegram gives a time, the window shows how long to wait.
- Too many wrong codes
- After five wrong codes the sign-in has to start over.
- No connection to Telegram through the proxy
- Check the proxy in the "Proxies" section or pick another one and try again.
Fields and settings
- Proxy
- Required. TDLib does not support SOCKS4, so such proxies are not listed.
- Group (optional)
- The account group to put the new account into.
- Code
- The digits (or a word) from Telegram or SMS. If the code is wrong, the window asks for it again.
- 2FA password
- The Telegram cloud password. Up to 5 attempts, then sign-in starts over.
Tips
- QR sign-in is handier: no code is needed and there is less chance of hitting an SMS restriction.
- Add the account with a proxy from the country it usually signs in from.
- "Sign in again" fixes accounts that ask to be signed in again by QR, with no re-import.
Gotchas and common mistakes
- If Telegram asks for an e-mail or a registration, such an account cannot be added this way.
- A number that is already in your list will not be added a second time: use "Sign in again" on the existing account.
- If the TDLib worker is unavailable, the window replies "TDLib is unavailable right now — try again later".
- You can run one sign-in at a time; if the server is busy with other users' sign-ins, the window asks you to retry in a minute.
- Each sign-in has 10 minutes. If time runs out, click "Start over".
